The name TCP/IP refers to a suite of data communication protocols. Its name comes from two of the more important protocols in the suite: the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP). The best known TCP/IP protocol at the internet work layer is the Internet Protocol (IP), which provides the basic packet delivery service for all TCP/IP networks.
