There are two
basic call types used for dial access: Circuit Switched Digital
Calls and Analog Modem Calls.
Circuit switched
digital calls are usually ISDN or CAS data calls that use
Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP).
Analog modem
calls travel through traditional telephone lines and ISDN lines.
Regardless of the media used, the calls are initiated by a modem and
terminate on another modem at the remote end. |
